Catherine had very clearly forgotten how early Molly had insisted that Scotty's training sessions be, and when the girl had started whining, pushed them back even earlier. She had left her house before it was even light outside, the waning crescent moon still hanging high in the early autumn sky. They had had rain over night, leaving everything in the city smelling just slightly damp, musty, and dirty. Suppressing a yawn, Catherine eyed the clock on her car's dash, thinking that this was too early for anyone in their right mind. Sleep still hung around her mind, as a thick and heavy thing. It was not a easily dismissed thing, and continually insisted on how lovely it would be to lean her seat back to sleep right there.
But instead of listening to the siren's call of Morpheus's agents, she took a sip of her coffee and waited.

Molly arrived, dressed in compression shorts a a compression midriff bearing tank in a bright color. She had Scotty in the car with her, dragging her feet as she stumbled out, in cute gym shorts and a racerback herself. This early, the young dhampir was too tired to whine, which suited a rather energetic Molly all too much. "Come on kid, it's not that early. You should be used to this by now!" The other was probably staying up late. Molly tended to crash almost as soon as she got home and an evening meal in her, so was wide awake. The woman was doing a light jog as Scotty half stumbled after her.
Grinning, the other spotted her boss. "Catherine! Glad you could make it. I had just let Scotty know you'd be joining us for awhile." She firmly didn't pay an ounce of attention to what Catherine had decided would work on Bates. If she looked, she'd blush. As it was, the tips of her ears were red. The downsides to having such an excellent glamour was that it reflected what she did perfectly. And that included blushing.

"I'm sure she's thrilled." Catherine replied, snorting derisively. She knew that the other was far from amused with the early mornings, and frankly she didn't blame her. It was in their nature to be more attuned to the night hours, and fighting that nature tended to make them sugar, caffeine and other stimulant junkies; as evidenced by Catherine's near constant state of sleep deprivation and caffeine addiction walking hand in hand. "Facility isn't open just yet, so it looks like it'll be laps around the perimeter until it is." She said as she stowed her coffee back into the cup holder of her car, an older sports car that seemed to be a disconnect for most people when they thought of the woman.
"It'll give the kid and me a chance to wake up anyway. We're not programmed for early mornings, remember?" Catherine added as she shrugged off the black warm up jacket that she'd worn over. Like Molly and Scotty, she'd picked an outfit that was more form than function and comfort. A pair of compression shorts and top similar to Molly's with an aggressive print in bright colors.

"Punishment for her incessant whining." Molly responded and then got a load of what the other was wearing. "Yeah. Uh. Laps." they could do laps. Molly was now bright red. She liked to pretend Catherine was completely off limits to, well, appreciating. But there was little doubting the fact that her boss was an attractive person and in that gear was more so and now Molly was going to have o see this every morning?
Think of Lorn. She told herself firmly. Think of Lorn. Lorn would have gotten onto her for staring like that and Molly's eyes quickly snapped away. "Um. Come on, let's get started. And remember kid, faster than human speed. It should be a light jog for you, not an all out sprint." If she just focused on the kid, maybe the burning in her cheeks would die down.
Maybe. If she was lucky. Molly swallowed and started running. Almost by habit, Scotty followed, though it didn't take long for her to get out of breath and begin to lag behind. The woman was not awake this morning, didn't understand why Catherine was joining them and had no clue why Molly was such a bright red, but she had learned not to complain too much at least, or her torturer/trainer would just make everything ache even worse than it already did.

Catherine would have preferred a bit more clothing herself, as she wasn't generally one comfortable with the idea of everything on display. While she didn't necessarily have the same problem Molly did at the moment, she wasn't sure how well their honey pot would work with Scotty as clueless and resistant as ever, and Molly too busy trying to shove aside sexual thoughts. Right now she felt that they were doomed to fail, despite all of their careful planning and coordination.
"Pick up the pace kid." Catherine said turning her attention to Scotty stumbling and gasping behind. While not exactly awake herself, Catherine was doing better than Scotty at keeping up with Molly. Though, she did tend to prefer her own workout sessions later in the evening after her shifts; a last ditch, desperate effort to exhaust herself to the point of being able to sleep. It was better than spending the night awake, with little more than infomercials to keep her company.

The careful planing and coordination would work. It took a bit longer for Molly to get her head in the game than she would like, but right now, her focus was two things: Training the brat, and catching Bates. She couldn't let herself be distracted, and dammit, she was a professional. She'd behave as such. She wasn't about to give them anything behavior wise to hang her one. She already knew her, well, her records were fudged to hell and back but behavior wise, she was determined to stay on the team. The sergeant glanced back at the kid who was huffing and puffing and rolled her eyes.
"Scottlyn. I've pushed you harder than this. Stop staying up all night and start running." Or Molly would drag her by the wrist and she could keep up that way. The promise was real.
Scotty's eyes widened and she picked up the pace, her breathing evening out as she actually breathed like she had been told a million times to do. She was still slower than she should be, but she was better now. "Please don't drag me!" she gasped out. that had only needed to happen once for her to realize that the other was actually serious about it and could do it.
Unseen, but possibly sensed, eyes were on the trio as they ran laps.

Catherine was the first to sense it, and quickly locked down her own shields before informing Molly. For now Scotty didn't need to know or do much other than run. "Faster Scottlyn." Catherine called out, careful to keep her voice light and casual. This was nothing more than Molly asking a friend to drop in, one who didn't know Molly's trainee very well if at all.
'Keep it up, Molly. Someone is paying attention.' She told the other woman as they made another lap around the building and it's parking lot. By now they had fallen in with a group of other officers getting in a run before their shift, and both parties were more than happy to share the anonymity of a group before going onto their shifts. Neither asked any questions, and just kept running.

'Joy.' Yes, that was the point, but it didn't mean Molly liked it. The woman kept running, until the building opened, then stopped and did some stretches. Exhausted, Scotty followed along. 'Outside or in?' She asked the other as she coached Scotty through a series of stretches that would make the teen more lumbar and kept Molly incredibly flexible herself. It paid to be flexible as far as the sergeant was concerned.
They needed to keep whoever's attention they had. Hopefully, it was Bates or the old one. did she have enough wards on her, if it was? She only had her most powerful one on her right now, since they were exercising. It wasn't ideal, but she was hoping jsut to deal with Bates today.

'Yes, "joy". Inside, let's see who follows.' Catherine responded as she paused to stretch as well. For now she was more than willing to follow through Molly's coaching, pretending to be someone looking for a trainer, and taking the other up on a drop in trial session.
The facility would largely be empty, except for the other officers whom they'd been running with, and a few others whose minds Catherine had very carefully sorted out from the other one. In the meantime though, the utmost care would need to be taken not to display as anything other than maybe a mildly magically enhanced human.

"Alright, inside. We can do the katas in there." She said simply. "We usually do paired katas for awhile. I'd like her to get more used to reacting to someone other than myself though." Molly paused and grinned. "I might do the katas with you and just have Scotty follow along for a bit." That was the tricky part. How to fit a third person into the workout. Still, it might mean that Molly actually got a decent workout herself for once instead of having to wait until she dismissed Scotty.
That was exciting in and of itself. Scotty gladly made her way into the blessed air conditioning of the facility, dragging her feet to their usual section, a cleared area mean for katas and sparring and the like. Molly watched amused. "You'd think I'm killing her."

"Katas? Seriously? What is it with you people and those damn things." Catherine commented, less than enthused about the idea of having to go through them. She had already expressed her displeasure to Rahal about them, and Molly wasn't going to be any different. Sighing slightly, she could see why Scotty may have been dragging her feet about this part at least, katas weren't exactly designed to be fun.
"But yeah, you'd think so.. and it could be arranged. I don't think she'd appreciate it though." Catherine added as she waited for Molly to explain the next steps.

"They're useful." She said simply. "Teaching you the right sequence of actions in a fight to take. It's just a series of effective moves in a fight, really." Molly considered it for a moment and then grinned. "Except for some of them. Some of the higher ones are to show off the skill in control of their body of the person doing them." She shrugged and set Scotty to doing katas. "Alternatively, we can just spar and figure out the combinations ourselves."
That was always a valid option, though it worked best with a large body so you didn't become too used to any one person's style. She already knew that much. The offer was open.
One of the officers had followed them in and was working out halfheartedly nearby. Bates was at a punching bag taking swings at it. Molly looked around and caught sight of him from the corner of her sight. "I could probably ask one of the officer to give a fight a go with Scotty. She needs someone other than just me to fight with." It was a little unfair to ask the kid to keep up with Molly.

"Fancy moves don't save you in a fight..." Catherine started to say and then just shook her head. It wasn't about who could pull the fanciest sequence of moves out of their pocket, it was about surviving to see another day. A real fight didn't assume you had any skill to back up saving your own butt, it was more so who could drive their point home the hardest or cause the most damage. "The only control I see out of the kid is the ability to whinge." She said gesturing over to where Scotty stood, looking as miserable as ever.
While she debated with Molly though, Catherine was careful to at least partially pay attention to the two officers. At least one of them would be their guilty party. "As for a go? I don't think she can move faster than a slug. I bet any officer here could beat her." Catherine commented, careful to prod at Scotty's sense pride and set the bait for anyone wanting to prove something.

"Nothing fancy about them. Just good combos." She said simply. Molly didn't believe in fancy moves. They were for idiots who thought looking good was the most important part of a fight. Molly knew perfectly well that a few quick moments was all a real fight would last and you needed to move quickly and powerfully. The practicing of the combos jsut meant those moves would be near instinctual. That was most of the point. Molly got the thread there and grinned. "You know, I bet you're right."
Scotty annoyed, spoke up. "They could not! I've gotten lots better, and you know it!" She was furious the other seemed not to believe in her. Molly watched a moment and then paused and grinned. This would work well.
"Fine." She looked around. "Bates! Get over here. The kid thinks she can take on an officer. Besides, it's not fair that she only gets to fight me." And lose badly, even when Molly was going nice on her.
Bates glanced over and grumbled then came over. "I guess I could use the practice." He admitted and eyed the dhampir. "Are you sure she's ready for a fight?"

"Uhuh.. sure." Catherine commented, crossing her arms over her chest, skeptical. Rahal had been eager for the fancy moves, but she also half suspected that was because he had wanted to take advantage of speed and agility past that of most humans.
"Better? You were running at the pace of a geriatric hamster this morning!" She said turning her attention back to Scotty. The girl annoyed her in so many ways, and Catherine had lost count of the number of reasons why. But first and foremost was the other's insistence of hiding her head in the sand; while in some ways Catherine could sympathize, she also understood that their world stood at the brink of war and anything could tip the balance.
"I bet.. Bates was it? Could hand you your butt in less than 3 seconds."
