O'Hara wasn't pleased that this meeting had been called, but he had agreed to having it, on neutral ground. There was a cafe near the academy that was used to less than human patrons and he had suggested there. If they were in public, he was less likely to lose his temper with the bitch, and she was less likely to flash fry him. Given the two didn't even remotely get along, it seemed the sensible choice, and while he hated dealing with the dhampir, he would if he had to. Given she was the Warden, it seemed to be required.
The werewolf alpha had also requested the meeting be no where near the full moon if at all possible. It was easier to hold his temper the farther from the moon it was. He knew the other packs thought of his as full of dumb jocks, but they were more than that. They just tended to let their wolves ride them harder than the other packs did. And okay, yes, they tended to be more sports oriented than other too, but that was a side effect of the curse, he was certain. Maybe.
Just like his distaste for the dhampir was a side effect. A strong one.

Catherine on the other hand didn't have much in the way of feelings either way towards O'Hara. Their last meeting hadn't been on exactly good terms, and that was likely the fault of everyone involved. Emotions had run high, and everyone involved had been eager to see resolution to the case; especially since it had involved a child. What most people didn't tend to realize about the unseen, was that families weren't always direct blood, but borne out of shared experiences.
"O'Hara, I'm surprised you actually agree to this."

"As am I. But I requested it far from the moon so I would not be...so I would not be as on edge as I was last time we spoke." Between the full moon and the death of a child, he had been on edge far more than he liked to admit. He did attempt not to behave rashly, usually. He was just well aware he had less control over his beast than the other packs. "Besides. I had yet to thank you, for catching our cub's killer." Their poor cub. Oh there had been initial fury of course. Why couldn't they have caught him sooner! But it has passed, at least. Or simmered down some. Truly passing was going to be difficult.
Still, she had made it clear that this was urgent, and so he waited, wanting to know what urgency there could possibly be. If it was over the young fools in his pack who were still awaiting trial, well. Frankly they deserved it. Picking a fight with a dhampir, however distasteful they were, only feet from the necromancer's shop had been the height of foolishness, even he could recognize that. He had summarily banned ever member of his pack from going near that shop until tensions had died down significantly. They were not to take out their anger of a cub's death on some new bitch of a dhampir. They had peace dammit. They would not be the reason a war broke out. He forbid it.

"I understand, everyone's emotions were running high. I apologize for any problems I may have caused you." Catherine said as she settled into her seat at the table. So far the two had only ordered drinks, and were likely to keep it at that as both had very different dietary preferences that varied greatly depending on the day and the time. "And you're welcome? It wasn't just me though, it was more so my entire team. However, I'll tell them you send your best regards. They'll be happy to hear it." She added, knowing that more often than not they heard endless streams of criticism from others about how exactly they weren't doing their job. Catherine sometimes wished the public could see what exactly they dealt with day to day, and then maybe they would think differently about things; but she doubted it.
"But, thank you for meeting with me though. This is rather.. short notice, and I do understand that." Catherine began trying to figure out how best to phrase this so that this would be in his pack's best interest to cooperate. "Allow me to be blunt, an old one has just woken up.. and he intends to try to start a war between the vampires and the weres. I hopefully assumed correctly that this is something you don't want, despite your own personal beliefs."

"You assumed correctly." A war. Someone was trying to start a war. Damn this was a lot more serious than he had suspected. "Regardless of my opinions, I am well aware of how the Unseen does not need a war right now. Especially given our...the recent decision to go public." It was one he was adamantly against, but no one had spoken to him about it. Still, dealing with an old one was tricky as hell. "My pack is not the strongest. There is little we can actually do against an old one." If the old one wanted a war, a war would likely happen. The old ones rarely had any compunctions about enthralling someone. He'd instruct his wolves to wear wards, but there was little more he could do.
"Other than attempt to avoid war, what would you have us do?" They wouldn't go into battle with her, that was sure as fuck. He didn't trust her not to light him on fire. She was a little too free with the damn stuff.

"I agree the decision to go public wasn't in our best interest at current, but I don't make these decisions; it's above my scope of expertise." Catherine agreed. The Council seemed largely ignorant of the problems that currently plagued the unseen, and what exactly happened on the daily basis. The murder of the Cedar Ridge cub was more than enough to tell her that the Council wasn't aware of just how badly
"Do what you can O'Hara, that is more than enough. I've already spoken to the Dragon Court, and they are doing everything they are able to to avoid war." She said, urging the other to think carefully about the situation.

"I'm sure they'll try." The amount of sarcasm in that statement was high. There was no love lost between Cedar Ridge and the Dragon Court. There was also no love to be had. A war would be all too easy to spike off on that alone, especially given that tempers were running high in his pack, thanks to the loss of their cub. "Is there anything in particular we should keep an eye out for, concerning this old one?" Something that might indicate their meddling or presence.
Each old one was different after all. The only commonality was they were all dangerous and very unstable. Witness the former Ra who had gone so mad he thought he could get away with torturing a warden. No, sanity was not really an expectation when it came to the old ones.

Catherine sighed, trying to hide her exasperation with O'Hara and his attitude. 'Here's the weak link... we are so screwed.' She thought to herself with concern. No doubt Grigore would exploit that weak link as well. "Allow me to explains something to you here O'Hara, this individual managed to possess a ward breaker." She said carefully. That had been a disaster in of itself, especially when it almost seemed like he had been planning it in advance. To Catherine that meant that he had carefully studied their movements and routines, something that left her with cause for concern.
"Unusual behavior out of your pack, and I would warn you that the girl your boys decided to get tangled up with might possibly be exploited in this. I'll watch her, but I can't promise this will end well for any parties." Catherine continued.

"A ward breaker? Does Dallas even have one?" That was news to him. They weren't the norm after all. Not rare, not really but to be strong enough to be one was not common either. Most people were very weak magically, especially humans. It couldn't be a human then. He shrugged. "I will warn them away from the...girl...again. And of course keep an eye out for unusual behavior." That was a given, but it did mean he'd have to see even those who weren't always in the pack's business regularly. That was going to be tricky to arrange.
Still, it was possible. "Said boys have already been thoroughly reprimanded." He pointed out, rather calmly. They had been well punished as far as he was concerned. There was no need to further punish them for a little fight, especially against a dhampir abomination.

"Dallas has more things than you realize. It would behoove the Cedar Ridge pack's alpha to know these things, especially considering your record with MCU." Catherine replied bluntly. After the incident with the cub, it felt like her entire department had become a laughing stock, and wasn't nearly as well regarded as they had been. In all honesty, they hadn't expected it to get so out of hand, and this was before Council had authorized additional funding for recruitment and training. She wanted to tell the other that they weren't perfect, but there was little reasoning with someone who was so set on discriminatory practices.
"But warning them to steer clear is all I can ask. I understand you're more than busy enough."

"I'm a bit more focused on other things." The you bitch was unspoken, along with a myriad of insults concerning her race, but she knew them already. "I will tell them to steer clear of the girl and of the shop, to be certain. I'll instruct the rest of the pack as well, to insure that nothing unfortunate happens." And that was the best she was going to get from him. He was still furious a cub had been killed when she should have been safe, still barely holding the pack together from that loss. They were bound to act out, and he knew it. Keeping them under control right now was difficult enough when they were all grieving, him included.
Every cub was treasured. The loss of one...O'Hara was convinced he'd hold the pack for much longer. Not given how things had been going lately. They were angry, angrier than usual, and they wanted revenge. That a mundane man had done this, a simple human had caused that pain, well. He was holding his pack back as best he could. Two or three lashing out against an abomination like a dhampir wasn't something he didn't expect.

Catherine was silent, she wasn't going to take O'Hara's bait. He could sit there all he wanted and goad her, but a reaction wasn't something he was going to get. It was unfortunate that a cub had died, but at the end of the day, they weren't able to control what happened. To do so could create disastrous effects for all involved. "Of course." Catherine finally said, choosing her words carefully.
She knew what O'Hara thought about her, her kind, and a number of other things. It was hard not to, considering how much he projected these things, largely forgetful of the fact that there were telepaths out there. "I'm only warning you what you and yours face O'Hara. That is all." Catherine added as she stood to leave.

"You have my thanks. I'll keep an eye out for any possible troubles." Though she may want to keep an eye on the cub's murderer. Just because he was keeping an eye out didn't mean that he could control what every member of his pack did. He wasn't God. The man sighed and finished his drink then stood, mind wandering a moment. He had other shit to do though, so despite how damned nice it smelled here, he had shit to get done. "See you."
Hopefully not for awhile. The werewolf alpha walked off. It was inevitable that he saw her. It was no inevitable that he wanted to though.
