Toba High School is a school in Mie prefecture near Ise. As part of their studies and interests, a group of students have taken interest in a field that usually is far above them: Advanced Cybernetics and take the risk of using themselves as the test subjects. Due to the color of the cybernetic parts, they have received the nickname "Chrome Girls". On the electronic bulletin board their flyer reads: "Are you interested in cybernetics? Wish to become something more than human? Are open for transformation? Come join the Toba High Cybernetics Club (Chrome Girls)". While most people are only willing to get subdermal implants or cochlear implants, there are options that go far beyond that replacing entire limbs, even entire bodies with the exception of the brain of course as it basically differentiates the cyborg from a robot or android. Many afflictions could be cured such as bad eyesight, physical disabilities and so on. The Chrome Girls go even further and experiment with transformations that give them flying capabilities or make them be able to travel like a road vehicle. They truly are an odd bunch.
Toba High School: Toba High is a school in the city of Toba, Mie prefecture, Japan. It is about 15 km east of Ise and has a population of 18000. The next metropolis is Nagoya which is around 150 km to the north. Tokyo and Osaka lie 200 km east and west. Local transportation is either by bus, train or ferry. Buses go throughout the town and to Ise, trains go to Wakayama, Osaka and Nagoya and there is a ferry that goes across the bay to Cape Irago on the Atsumi Peninsula and to outlying islands. The school is only about 400 meters from the nearest train station. Along the road near the school there are various smaller restaurants and food stalls. There is an electronics speciality shop west of the school.
The school has 1200 students. The school building has four floors and about 18 rooms per floor. Classes average 25 students. There are three grades, 1-3, ages 16 to 18. Classes usually go from 9am to 3pm, some students stay in school until 5 or 6 pm for extracurricular activities. The school has a gym and its own swimming pool. There are considerations of exempting the Chrome Girls from gym class because it could be considered cheating with their bodies abilities.
School uniform: The school uniform either consists of a black pants and a button down shirt with a gakuran jacket or a sailor fuku in black and purple (winter) or white and purple (summer). The school has uniforms depending on the season. In winter, it is gakuran for boys and a long sleeve sailor fuku for girls, bottoms for girls are optionally pants or a skirt in winter. In summer, boys wear a short sleeved white buttoned shirt and can wear pants or shorts. Girls wear a shortsleeved sailor fuku and shorts or optionally a skirt. On really hot days, uniforms can be optional, otherwise girls have a sleeveless variant of their uniform. Toba high school doesnt have a swim uniform and bikinis are acceptable for swim class as long as they aren't "sexual".
Club room: The club room is the former mechanics shop. Decades ago, students learned how to fix cars and motorcycles here, now they learn how to build and repair cybernetics here. Also the equipment is more up to date. Instead of a lift for cars, it is now more like an oerating table and there are a bunch of gadgets to determine power, brain function and other stuff.
