"I'm covering it." He said simply and got out of the car. Molly slipped out as well and looked to the store. The dressed are reasonably priced and in style." And why wouldn't they go here. "We need court appropriate clothes that the two of you can fight in if needed. They'll have something here." He definitely grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth given his view for reasonable prices. "Besides, they have less expensive options if you feel bad about the cost."
Molly eyed the store like it was going to bite her. "Why do I get the feeling I'm about to not like what's happening next?" She had a sinking feeling about this entire situation. She didn't mind dress shopping occasionally, but finding things that fit was tricky at best. She headed towards the store. "You are going to be reasonable right, Tyrus?" He was not going to be reasonable. He had that gleam in his eyes that spelled trouble.

"Because I don't think we are..." Xiaolian replied, suddenly feeling as if she was way in over her head. She hadn't felt that way since the first weeks of academy, and that had been some time ago.
Dresses like the ones displayed in the window, Xiaolian knew to cost at least 6 months of pay; and that was after bills and expenses.
"Let's just get this over with."

It did not take long for Tyrus to decide on six dresses apiece for the two to try on. Cheerfully he hustled the two to the dressing rooms so they could decide if the dresses suited them or not. In sheer horror, Molly firmly put four of them on the no list, not even trying them on. She glared at him and held up the other two. "I think I can make up my own mind Tyrus. Just give me enough time to look, okay?"
"Alright, I suppose, but those all meet court standards."

If Xiaolian was given a chance to be honest about the choice in dresses, she found them to be far too revealing for her tastes. "I don't think so... there's barely anything to this one." She said, refusing to leave the dressing room in one. Others were a definitive no, if only because somehow they didn't meet Tyrus's exacting standards; which Xiaolian wasn't even sure what they were.

Tyrus sighed. "Alright go. Be free. Make some choices, and I'll wait here to yay or nay them." They didn't know court style like he knew it after all. He'd be able to keep it somewhere okay. "And it can be less revealing of skin, I suppose. Fashion will have changed some after all." Though given the speed at which vampires moved, not a lot. It would still likely be leather and lace there.
Molly took off like a shot, not wanting to be anywhere near him right now. "Okay yeah sure, bye."

Xiaolian didn't expect to have to wear the dress except the once, and so begrudgingly picked a long black and silver shot taffeta dress with a semi full skirt. It was one of the few dresses Tyrus had picked that didn't show a ton of skin.
"Only have to wear this once... this'll be fine." She told herself looking at the criss crossing straps holding the dress on.

Molly returned with a forest green a-line with a keyhole and held it up for inspection. After a few moments, Tyrus approved and she tried it on, kicking above her head in the stall to make certain she still had freedom of movement. "This works." She declared and changed back to her regular clothes, hanging the dress back on the hanger it came in. "I can kick in this one. I should be good for other things too."
"How do you know you can...you know what. I don't want to know. You both look nice, and it doesn't look like we'll need my seamstress after all. The fit works well." It wasn't too baggie. "We just have to accessorize you both now." He offered them both an all too pleased grin. Given he was from the sun court, it meant a lot of gold jewelry. "I may have some pieces that go with the dresses."

"Because she tried and succeeded. How else do you find out?" Xiaolian deadpanned. Tyrus could be as horifed as he wanted, she didn't care. He had asked them to make sure they could fight in them, so it was his fault if he didn't like the results.
"I think it's best I not wear any jewelry that's yours." She added. Anything that he or others had imbued with magic was likely to become inert when she wore it.

Tyrus snorted. "I think it is too. You'd break it. So accessories and shoe shopping for you, and shoe shopping for Molly." Easily done. "I think...understated is probably a good statement for the two of you to make." And it would work well with the dresses. "I'll be the peacock. But I'm always the peacock at court, so they'll be expecting that." Doing something else would send alarm bells ringing.
"Hate to tell you think, but it's not just at court."

"I'm supposed to care about that why?" Xiaolian drawled. It just didn't matter, all she knew she needed to do was get her mind focused on the mission at hand and not on the potential discomfort.
This would have to be a fact finding expedition, and not a rescue mission. Getting killed was not in her plans, though she suspected that Molly and Tyrus would gladly get in a fight if only for entertainment.
"Let's... just get the rest of this done."

The shopping spree had ended with his card noticeably lighter, but it was fine. Both his teammates would be dressed to impress and he was as well, decked in gold and leather and lace, dripping with obvious wealth. For the mundanes, it would be considered ostentatious. For the vampire court, it was more a display of his status and skills than anything else. The fact that he was covered in protective runes from the jewelry simply made him safer as far as he was concerned. Besides, it wasn't nearly as bad as it could be. an armband on each arm, a wrist cuff on one, and his rings of course. His usual assortment of necklaces and his earrings. He had dug up hair beads as well and used magic to attach them where they ought to go in his hair with its head full of braids.
He was waiting now for the other two. Molly arrive first and grimaced at the sight of him. "You look like you're trying too hard. Just so you know." She had been talked into a necklace and earrings and a bracelet. Anything else and she had threatened to shove it where the sun didn't shine. She wasn't about to go into this dressed up any more than she already was.

Xiaolian arrived shortly after Molly. It was clear that she had gotten a bit of extra help beyond what Tyrus had given, with her hair and makeup neatly done. It was a far cry from the routine of a basic suit and sometimes jeans on a friday for the Lieutenant, but the woman had done her best and had even managed to find a few pieces of jewelry to match the dress.
A pair of diamond and jade earrings, a delicately carved jade bracelet, and a necklace of the same design as the earrings. Their design was clearly older and meant for them to go together as a set, but beyond the vaugely asian motif from the incorporation of the jade alone, there wasn't anything terribly out of the ordinary immediately noticable to most persons. However, to the trained eye they did have an aura of magic about them.
"Okay so now what?" Xiaolian asked, unsure of how this was exactly to work. She said nothing of how much jewelry Tyrus had managed to cram onto his person, thinking it was more gaudy than anything else.

Tyrus smiled. "We go in." He said simply and led the way. It was entirely too much like coming home. He had grown up in the court and knew it backwards and forwards and every which way. It wasn't long until they came across a very nervous looking fledgling who gulpd when he saw them. "This way to the gala please." He said and led the way the rest of the way pausing in front of the doors nervously. "Um, names?"
Did that fledgling just say um? Molly didn't laugh but her amusement was clear. She started to say something only to be interrupted by Tyrus. "al-Amir Khuenre, Lt. Xiaolian Boyuan and Sgt. Molly Bronson." He drawled, settling into the skin he wore as a prince easily. He looked subtly different, something in the way he carried himself. Molly rolled her eyes and eyed the fledgling, then decided to ignore him.
The vampire checked a list then nodded and opened the door. "Welcome to the All Hollow's Gala."

Xiaolian offered a sympathetic smile to the fledgling as she followed Molly and Tyrus through the door.
To say that the gala was opulent was more than an understatement, and no expense had been spared in the planning of the gala. Black marble floors polished to a high shine, with white stone columns rising to the ceiling all to lead the eye towards a central gold medallion. Underneath it sat a large dias with a throne atop it. The throne was covered in a plush red velvet the color of blood with gold dragons flanking either side of it. Circulating about the room were waiters dressed in white coats and gloves, passing glasses of wine, champagne, and other things.
Molly, Xiaolian, and Tyrus had not been the only ones to recieve an invitation; many of those loyal to the Dragon Court were present, and some from farther than just the US. What many forgot was that this new court had ties to Italy and the old world, and was not afraid to flaunt it.

Tyrus took the room into account and smiled. "European influences." He noted. He was also not the only one who was heavily decked in jewelry. It did look like there had been a shake up though. Some familiar faces were not to be seen and there were some unfamiliar ones as well. He headed deeper into the fray, making certain the two women stayed fairly close to him. The two were in luck. It appeared much of the court was speaking english. They'd at least understand what was said. "...try not to pick fights. Molly, maybe you should just stay close. And quiet."
"Hey." She was definitely offended by that one. She wasn't going to pick a fight just because she could. And she wasn't going far either. There were entirely too many vampires here for her comfort. She was not looking forward to this and really hoped the entire night was somehow peaceful. They were vastly outnumbered.
