"No sign of rain, though in this heat that would be difficult to ascertain." And she couldn't really tell it by looking at the body. Gently, she lifted the child's arm, then placed it back. "No sign of dampness under the body either, so it's likely there hasn't been rain here today, somehow." She hated moving the body of such a young child like this. Steeling herself, Baird forced herself to go back to a more clinical mindset. She could react more when all cameras were not on them. For now, discovering things was their duty. She sighed. "Dumitrescu. Can we move the...can we move the victim?" This was a child. At least they had a suspect now, even if the officer she didn't recognize had futzed that up royally.
Molly ground her teeth together in the car as she took them to the station. "Dave, please just stay quiet for this ride. You and I are going to talk later, alright?" And it wasn't going to be a pretty talk. The sergeant hurried to the station. The Warden would have to handle the press. For now, Molly prayed to god that this was their suspect and not an actual journalist. If it was, then this was going to be exponentially worse than it already was.
In the back of the vehicle, the man they had arrested remained silent, refusing to say a word and glaring darkly ahead.
