"You would of course, you're the rightful heir to the court that was there before." Catherine replied easily, determined to disentangle herself from the chaos that was Grigore's court. The cruelty and iron fist that he ruled with did little good to further relations with any potential allies. Though, if they took Grigore down, there would likely been some sort of power vacuum. But, they couldn't stay hidden forever. Life needed to go on, with or without the mad man.
But Tyrus, was right though, his own psychic abilities paled in comparison to Grigore's and Catherine had tried only once. She had failed, only because she had been run ragged and suspected Grigore's instance that they burn the candle at both ends was means of control. In reality, Catherine suspected that he was doing anything he possible could to maintain a fragile hold over them and the court.
"My abilities? Tyrus.. I told you the scale stops at five for several reasons." And even then five was nearly unobtainable by many, unless they found some sort of enhancement spell that didn't drive them mad in the process. "The discussion was one, unwarded. Two, you didn't need that information at the time. Three, you wouldn't have even understood if I explained it." Catherine remembered the discussion well after the Council found out what she had nearly done to O'Hara during their last disagreement before the Court. They had decided that shackling an unruly mage to an even more unruly student would keep them both out of trouble, but what they hadn't planned on was the effects of the political mine fields involving two veil borne.
"And I can use them as he does, I prefer not to. It's... not right. You forget I wasn't raised like you were."

The scale did stop at a five. And she was a five. He considered what she said. He could rule over the court. He knew how, he just lacked the experience. And he did have some experience with the pieces Grigore threw to him, and helping his parents and brothers out. Really, there wasn't someone more qualified who would be willing. "Alright. I can rule the court." He had both his bloodlines to keep people under his control. He'd have to be crueler than he necessarily wanted to be, but that was part of court life, and it wasn't like he wasn't very used to the expectations of the court.
"We might stand a chance. And it's better than the alternative. He's running the court into the ground." The court would not survive him and thrive. "And he's ruining any chance at relations with others with his hardlines on feeding and on werewolves." The werewolves weren't great allies, but they certainly could be kept away from the edge of war with deft politics.
"You were raised to be kinder than I was. Are you sure you can do this?" It was putting down a mad man. It may not work at all. But they had to do something.

"Tyrus, I was also raised to make hard decisions when necessary. There are things I'm certainly not proud of, but at the time were necessary. I'm not proud of what we did to get here safely, and I'm damn sure not proud of what landed me in that hell hole Broadmoore." She explained. Catherine knew what Tyrus had access to with his position with the institute, and likely what sniffing he had done before that after their second encounter when she came to Dallas. The scale may have stopped at five, but if it had gone further her classification likely would have been much higher than it was. Combined with the ability to channel and manipulate magic directly from the veil, and the magic she did know, she was a formidable opponent when necessary.
"We will stand a chance, because we have to, and believe me.. I have a lot of unresolved business with that insufferable son of a bitch who calls himself my father." Spite and rage were powerful motivators, and ones that she didn't often given in to. It seemed necessary this time around though, especially given how she had wound up in the court after refusing the first time.
Grigore had forced her hand, and taken advantage of her weak state to impose his will on hers. What he hadn't accounted for, was that with a little rest, care, and careful planning she had been able to gain her own mind back. Sure, she played along, but merely out of necessity until a better solution could be found.

They had to. In order to be free, they had to fight back, and had to strike quickly. "Then we'll need to act fast. The longer we wait, once we're back, the more likely he'll find out any plan we make. And we need allies as well. He isn't completely without supporters, and if they think he'll win, they'll fight for him." He knew exactly how that would go. There was a handful who would fight for Grigore regardless of anything else. And they'd consider it more advantageous to be on Grigore's side than on theirs.
"Hell, the longer we wait here, the angrier he's going to be that we're out of reach." And he would be furious that they had escaped his grasp, even if only for a week or two.

"He's going to be angry irregardless." Catherine pointed out. The man saw the two of them as little more than convenient pawns in whatever plans he had. They were only allowed to exist because he saw fit to do so. "Even if he finds out there's a plan, there isn't anything he can do once everything is set in motion. We have allies, and it won't be a hard sell to get them involved." The Council, the Wolves, and likely even a few others would be more than willing to get rid of the mad man who had caused so many problems over the last year.
"You were trained as a battle mage by the previous court, who spared little expense with magic. I was trained to take my father's place as a knight and commander of the seelie forces, not to mention I've been trained as a Warden... both of which includes a few nastier tricks than I care to admit. Not to mention we have people like Xiaolian and Molly on our side. We'll win." Catherine was almost certain of it. There was strength in numbers and carefully chosen allies.
"And he won't find out anything other than what we want him to, because now is as good a time as any to cut bonds."

He nodded. "Now is the time. And we will win. We have the fire power to manage it." They could definitely manage a win out of everything they brought with them. "I can use my magic more fiercely than I usually get the chance to as well. Without taking out the palace." It was possible of course, but it would be a little tricky. His magic was meant to be an overwhelming force that could be fought against. And he was a talented battle mage. It was time to move past his fear.
Grigore was terrifying, but the court was rightfully his and he would be taking it back by force. And then he would rule over the court with an iron fist. Besides, who could deny he had a right to it. Not only was he the son of the previous leaders, he was the grandson of the current leader. He had every right to lead the court, and he had the power to do so, even if he wasn't, strictly speaking, a vampire for very long at all.
