Catherine contemplated this before replying, "It was a common fae nobility practice, and likely still is. Nobility will marry once they come of an appropriate age. Women there don't do what I do, its not.. hm.. proper to put it politely." There had been whispers and disapproving looks when she had been a child, no man had ever dared to teach their daughters what they had taught their sons. Sure, it was enough for them to be able to read and write, but to fight with swords and magic? That just wasn't done, ever. The only reason Sir William had gotten away with it was his closeness with the kingdom's monarchy, who in exchange for years of loyal service had tolerated his radical ideals when it came to his daughter.
There was a great deal about this new court that she found herself unable to begin to understand. The fae were closer to humans than any other population within the unseen, and that was likely due to their proximity over the centuries. It hadn't been uncommon for the occasional human to find their way into either end of the world, and rumor had it that some had even married fae and had had children. But, no one could prove this and so it was often considered more of a rumor that was used against a political or social opponent. Calling attention to the circumstances of one's birth wasn't rude, but it wasn't polite either.
"What you're telling me is you want Generals and Ministers, not assistants."

He considered the titles for a moment and then shrugged. "We could call them that. I'm certainly not looking for executive assistants, after all." He had never been clear on what a minister was but if the shoe fit, then he'd wear it. "And marriage is rare among vampires and not to be foisted on anyone. Spending an eternity with just one person is...exceedingly rare." Long stretches was the norm, but marriage, a promise of eternity, well. That was something else entirely. Joining together two people and their lives into one wasn't something most vampires would consider.
"I only know of two couples that ever married. My parents, of course, and my brother Milo and his husband Aequitas. And both pairs were annoyingly sappy to be around and disturbingly stronger for having combined their households." Milo and Aequitas had been stomach turningly sweet on each other and still very much in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. They'd murmur at each other in their native tongues and Tyrus missed his brother but did not miss the sappiness of his brother's relationship. "But both also had a crippling weakness. Capture one spouse and the other would bend to your will. I highly doubt Grigore wants that for you."

"Let me be frank here Tyrus. What I meant is I don't want to ever be married again," In a way her marriage to Izaak had been a way to defy what everyone at the time had been trying to dictate to her as best. Sure her now ex-husband had been unarguably attractive, and part of that was what had drawn her to him, but after a time things had become untenable and miserable for both of them. But they had stayed together as long as it was possible, if only to provide stability to Mary, Emily, and Brandon. After that was no longer a priority they divorced, though it was far from an amicable parting of ways. "It was a mistake and it's one I do not wish to ever repeat." Catherine explained plainly. There was still a lot about her life outside of MCU that Tyrus didn't know.
"Then you will have to treat this as if this is the military or government. Choose carefully for their knowledge, behavior, connections, and loyalty."

"Choosing carefully was the idea. I don't want idiots or sycophants in charge of anything." They needed someone in each position that was willing to push back, at least a little. They didn't need a toady that worshiped their power and what it represented. "I suspect the best choice for overseeing judicial affairs won't please you though." He really didn't want to point out who would be the best choice when it came to each of those metrics. The only one he wasn't sure of was if the other would have the necessary time. Either way, it was sure to be tense.
"But he's loyal and well connected. And frankly, if you ask him, he'd not say no." Though if she'd want to work with him, the younger vampire didn't know.
He didn't blame her on the not wanting to get married aspect of things. It had always seemed like a major hassle to him and he was glad to be away from it.

Catherine could see that neither of them was willing to give an inch on what they thought was the right solution, and reaching a compromise wouldn't prove easy. She wasn't willing to admit her ignorance when it came to vampires and the court, Tyrus meanwhile had been spent his entire life there, knowing each subtle in and out. The whims of the court were easy for him to read, unlike Catherine who had been raised with the fae, who were fairly obvious about things. "Fine. Who is it?" She sighed with annoyance.

"Kasimir Klein." He answered her. "He'd do damn near anything you asked. He has a crush on you and has had one for some time now." It paid to know the weak points of the courtiers after all. "He's also well aware of both unseen laws and the court laws and has a level head for most things." His pressure points aside. "He's also successfully raised three different children all of whom are connected to various courts. One actually lives in Dallas." Sweet woman, but she played up the ditz card for anyone she thought she could get away with it on.
"The children mean he can keep an eye on things that might otherwise be missed. Most people aren't even aware he has them." Tyrus knew, but Tyrus knew damn near everything about every vampire active in the court. Grigore was a notable exception and it rankled. He also knew everything he could know about the heads of the courts around the world. Only the basics, of course, on the farther flung and smaller courts.

Catherine bit back what she was going to say about Klein. Instead she was silent trying to find words to describe her thoughts on this newest piece of information. Surveying her thoughts for a brief instance, she found herself suddenly very much conflicted on the issue, more than she had been. "I would almost swear you were insinuating that I should go on a blind date with the man, Tyrus." She admonished. Sure she could agree with him about choosing Klein for the position given his experience and the breadth of it as well.
But Tyrus was almost guaranteeing that it would be a knock down drag out fight between the two, especially given that Catherine was not terribly fond of Kasimir.
"I won't disagree that Klein is a good choice..." She started to say, unsure of how to phrase her conflicted thoughts. Catherine hadn't even known that the man had had children, but then again she had mostly said little about her own daughters given her job. For most of the unseen it was a protective measure given the risks associated with many of the career paths in law and law enforcement for the unseen. "I'll speak to him." Catherine finally agreed. It wasn't going to be enjoyable.

"I'd never date the man. Or suggest you date him. Use his affection for you though? That a different beast entirely." He saw no problem with using it at all. The other vampire was well aware that if he was going to be obvious about something than someone was going to take advantage of it. Tyrus was that someone, and had pressed that particular lever on more than one occasion. "Besides, if he didn't want it to be used, he'd be more subtle." He was a good choice and more than that, he was a choice they could trust. For now at least, and over the long term they'd get their hooks into him in other ways. They just needed a lure to begin with.
"I can handle speaking to others, if you don't want to. But that particular one would be best handled by you." Klein would buckle under the slightest hint of attention from Catherine, platonic or not. The man was weak against strong blondes. There was a reason all of his children were blonde women who controlled a room when they walked in it. Even the one that pretended being ditzy.
