Errors in Balder Cross ley map?
#1 FiestyWombat 5 days ago
Hello, fellow ley cartologists! I've just got a new pendulum rebuilt as a nighttime project after the freaky last solstice that blew out so many setups. It's for use as a minor axis in my double pendulum as I'm a diviner using chaos magic. The primary axis is one of my stable quartz pendulums and the minor axis is the texas blue topaz in the convenient texas star cut for geological, natural, and logical affinities. The lexicon used as my chant during the divination is a custom ordering of names built on some of the local and historical sites of power as well as a few new ones I've seen others note lately that are consistent to fit in the total chaos space. As the blue topaz crystal is empowered by the moon I'm using a silvered mirror reflector upon the map surface writ with an entreaty to spirits for guidance in this purpose. The axis rods are etched tin with ceramic bearings at each axis as to avoid any resonance of steel against fae powers in dallas.
After last night's test with the Balder Cross ley map my results don't seem to match the map though. I'm getting a nexus of flow west of dallas that isn't on any of my other maps and several flows that seem to deviate significantly from their expected range or may have fractured into new tributaries. I point tested the maps with a inscribed lens and my other pendulums and they all agree something has changed but they don't seem to know what despite what I ask. Perhaps I'm not asking the right questions.
I made the best approximation of the resulting map from the rebuilt cartographic diviner and tested my other pendulums conventionally with that as well. They all seemed to agree with that stronger than the historical maps and others seemed offended by either the map or the names I was using if I used ones made too far back. Does anyone have ideas on what's going on? What happened the last solstice? Have every one of my pendulums turned mutinous? I know the transcription isn't as useful as the resulting actual entropic map but it should help those of you who know what to do with it.

I'm not sure, wombat. I know you know what you're doing at the very least. Hell of a thing for a diviner to say but it would explain why I've felt like everything I read is at an angle. It took a week before I stopped getting lost in my own flippin house. I didn't have any standing rune layouts or wards and had everything locked up so I didn't lose anything. Figured after a bad omen came across a few other types of diviners I know for this solstice I'd play it safe. I just unpacked a few of my own divining runes and they're definitely confused about something now. These old earth runestones really don't like change so we went to see one of the rare local puddles I have marked out to take a dip as it were. Got there, put the runes down and set to commune, then found out the obelisk I've got there was unhappy that it wasn't on a minor ley node. It's not like the flow is dirty from someone moving the node, by old blood, the magic seems to churn along as slow as a molasses tide as always.
For some of y'all hedgies here the nodes don't just pull up their flows and git by dawn. That does not happen naturally unless somebody's really fuckin' about. I'll break out some of my own typographic rune maps. See if I can find where the feral puddle done and ran itself off to.

I've been apprenticing for a bit though only my principal does the cartography I've been getting answers from the spirits and from something new. It feels like a pendulum but it's giving back something other than yes/no answers and I'm not trained for that yet. At least I think it's a spirit. My principal diviner can tell it's there now but says they can feel the energy just staring and ignoring them entirely. We think it might actively dislike non-humans. Whatever it is only showed up just a bit before the solstice though I don't know if it's connected. I'll have him look at the map and see if it helps me not have to sweep as much while he's obsessed. I'm sure my principal already knows I'm due to show up with something, heh.
