Tyrus had not let Carter wait with him in the examination room. He wanted to receive the news on his own. The nurse had led him to the examination room and helped him onto the examination table he couldn’t even see.It had been exhausting depending on Carter to help him around the house. But it had been a week with no improvement in his vision and he had managed to get an appointment with a specialist unseen doctor that focused on eyes. Hopefully there would be some news, some test that could be performed to let him know what was wrong, why he had lost his vision. Surely his vision would come back soon.
One week hadn't been enough time, but maybe his eyes just needed more time. Or maybe he needed a spell performed on him. There had to be some solution. He fidgeted, listening for the door to open, hand on either side. All he could do really was wait. He couldn't even answer his own phone very well right now. It was ridiculous, all it was was swiping up. But he had managed to accidentally hang up twice now and had only two attempts to call his phone. Everything work related was being routed through Carter.
It was beginning to look like he was going to have to permanently take time off work instead of a week away from the building. That would be interesting. He did need to get used to being blind though and that was the simple truth. If this was permanent at least.

There was a brief shuffling sound outside the exam room, followed by a succint knock at the door, and the sound of a well worn door handle clicking open to allow access. "Good afternoon, Tyrus was it? I'm Dr. Munro, how're you today?" They asked cheerfully. From the sounds of it, this new occupant was female and didn't seem too terribly concerned despite the severity mentioned in the initial reasons for the appointment. Getting all worked up and worried didn't do either any amount of good.
"Your appointment details say you're having some problems with your eyes? Could you tell me what's been going on?" She continued as she busied herself about the room. There was a brief cold and acrid smell of hand sanitizer, followed by the sound of a small packet opening with the cold and bitter scent of alcohol as she readied things for the exam.

"I'm doing well Dr. Munro." He replied, and tried to track where she was. "And I can't see anything but magic, doctor. It's like I've cast mage sight, but all I can see is the magic and not what the object is." He could get a decent idea of what something magical was but that was about it. The doctor sounded competent at least, which was better than nothing. "I can't seem to shut it off either. I'm not consciously channeling any magic." And he was fairly certain he wasn't channeling any by accident, but he could be wrong.
"It happened on the solstice, but I was hoping my eye would return to normal on their own."

"I see, well let's have a look. I'm going to shine a small, bright light into your eyes first. You let me know if anything bothers you, okay?" The doctor replied moving closer to were Tyrus sat. Withdrawing a small pen light from her pocket, she flicked the light on and waved it across his eyes looking for a reaction. There wasn't much if any of one that she could tell. Mage sight often caused mixed signals between the eyes, brain, and magic; but for it to last so long was unusual. It wasn't a spell she recommended many magic users use, as it had the potential to cause damage if improperly applied.
"Hmm... so you said this happened on the solstice? May I ask what you were doing?" The doctor asked patiently as she moved off to the side for a moment and scribbled a few notes. "Next I'm going to take a better look at your eyes, I'll help you find where to put your head." She added moving a small machine across the floor of the exam room to sit in front of Tyrus. It would give her an better idea what might be affecting the physical structures before she moved onto the magical.

"It was a rough solstice." He explained. "I was channeling excess magic into the earth when I lost control. It began to channel through my eyes before an associate cut off my flow of magic entirely. I was able to see when I didn't have any access to my magic, but only in shades of gray." He hadn't even noticed her shining the light in her eyes. That was probably a bad thing right? There should be some reaction? Then again, maybe his eyes were reacting just fine and he simply couldn't process what they were seeing. It could be anything really.
The mage listened as she moved the machine closer and let her guide his head where it was, apparently, supposed to go. The entire event was not something he could say he enjoyed at all. Largely because he couldn't see what was going on at all.

"That does sound like a rough time of it." Dr. Munro agreed. The solstice tended to be chaotic for anyone in the unseen, and she herself usually choose to stay home. That was the one day when she was not interested in having the clinic open, and would gladly trade not having to deal with things that one day, even if it meant dealing with a week's worth of fall out later. "But what you're describing is a bit unusual. I don't see anything wrong with the structures of your eyes, in fact they seem just fine to me. Perhaps a little warped from the incident, but that's to be expected." She commented after taking a closer look at Tyrus's eyes with a slit lamp.
"Okay so now we're going to change gears from the physical to the magical." The doctor added, her words punctuated by the sound of drawers opening and closing, and plastic parts scraping against other plastic parts and metal. "Just keep your head there for a moment while I change lenses on the lamp."
Sliding the new lense carefully into place, she resumed the exam. Channeling a bit of magic into the inscription around the new device carved from quartz, Dr. Munro took another look again at Tyrus's eyes. "Thought so." She said plainly, failing to add that whatever magic his associate had used was unlike anything she'd ever seen. It had the colors of space time, with hints of an older, ritual based magic wraped around it. "It seems that not everything was connected back up quite right. It is fixable with a simple enough incantation."

It felt rather like a weight lifted off his shoulders. "Thank you very much doctor." That was a relief she couldn't imagine. "I am thrilled to hear that." He would be able to see again. And he was never going to take it for granted again. A week of being blind was more than enough for him. It meant his life could return to something resembling normal at least. "Are you able to cast the incantation now, or does it require any special circumstances?" That was the question wasn't it? Was this a quick fix or not?
Either way, there was a fix and he'd be able to see again. He was beyond thrilled with the information, and couldn't suppress the happy smile and didn't bother trying to.

Dr. Munro chuckled at Tyrus's reaction, it wasn't often she got a happy patient. They never seemed terribly happy with the prognosis, either good or bad. Truth be told, she wasn't sure what they expected. "Yes that is an option, unless you would like for it to be done at home by someone else?" Some patients liked their privacy and safe spaces, and given recent events in their community she couldn't blame them.
"It's pretty basic stuff. This doesn't need special circumstances to work." She explained. "Alternatively, I can write you a scrip to take to an herbalist if that's more comfortable." Either way, wiping out the remains of the interfering spell would be easy enough. It was weak, and it seemed to not last well in the world outside of the solstice or other high magic areas. "Just avoid doing anything that might have you channeling magic like that again. I can't promise you won't have lasting damage."

"I would prefer it if you could cast it now." He admitted. "And trust me, I fully plan on avoiding doing that ever again." He'd find a way for it all to work. Or he'd submit to having his magic sealed away twice a year for the next eternity which frankly sounded terrible to have to deal with. The magic had to deal with enough magical fall out on the ranch right now that he didn't want to imagine how bad off it could have been, or that it could be worse next time. Because that was a distinct chance as well.
He had entirely too much magic now and nothing he tried to tame it seemed to work any more. There had to be some way to manage it again but he'd been having issues since he was turned. And he didn't think they'd go away without a lot of effort.

"Of course. Though I will say that while this will fix things, you might not be able to see immediately. It may take some time for everything to adjust back to rights." She explained as she removed the diagnostic lense from the lamp. The next steps would require a different lens and a different light source. Some things didn't need to change just because progress was made, there were instances where the old ways were sometimes best.
Opening another drawer, she withdrew another finely carved crystal lens and set it aside. This was repeated several times over until she had everything necessary to perform the incantation.
Holding the lens in one hand, and a small alcohol lamp in the other, she muttered the incantation necessary. Brilliant blue magic lit up around the small quartz lense before it concentrated in the center and directed itself at Tyrus's eyes. The magic quickly set to work righting what was wrong, and unlike Tyrus's two previous botched Solstices, she had been extremely specific with what she had wanted the magic to assist with.

"That's fine. Even some improvement..." Even if it wasn't instant, an improvement was better than what he currently had. The incantation seemed to work at least and there was some improvement. He could just make out shapes now. Now firmly, not well, but it was more than he had before. "Thank you so much doctor. There's already some improvement." Not enough for perfect vision, but enough he might not run into anything at least. He could still see the layer of magic over everything, but there were mundane shapes as well. It was more than he had hoped for given what she had described. "Is there anything I need to know, or to not do?"

The physician thought for a moment before speaking, "I wouldn't suggest trying to drive, and you may be sensitive to light for a few days. More so than whatever is normal for you."
But some improvement was better than none. She still couldn't understand how he had managed to cast a more permanent version of mage sight on himself, or why his colleage would just randomly cut off the flow. To be without magic for some of the unseen was almost unheard of, sure enough there were bindings and other such things, but to disconnect like he had had done was highly unusual.
"Also, don't do whatever caused this again. Next time you might not be so lucky."

"I certainly don't plan on it." He agreed and carefully got down from the examination table. "If I can avoid it by any means, I will. It wasn't particularly pleasant to go through." And he didn't look forward to ever doing so again. He was doing whatever he had to so he could make it through the next solstice unscathed. Being blinded like this had been terrifying. "Could you help me to the waiting room? I have someone waiting for me there." he would be fine once he reached the waiting room at least. Carter was a decent enough companion when it came to guiding him and Cruor certainly kept things interesting.
His vision was going to get better. He just had to give the spell time to work.
