The nurse hurried his vitals check and made himself scarce. Jaesoo stayed on her side, back turned to Maria. Something was digging into the space between her shoulder blade and where her ribcage started. "Nothing's going to change what happened, so why bother," she mumbled in a low tone. "They're dead. No one had any idea. How was anyone supposed to know?" It was supposed to be fun. A kind of release. The kind the homeschooled kids had been told they were never supposed to have, and the kind their classes wouldn't actually teach, not officially ever anyway. "I didn't do anything wrong though. No one really did." Except maybe Temperance. It had been her idea. Temperance was the one who'd pushed Gerardo into exploring that damn portal, the one who'd pressured Indira into tossing a stinkbomb into the faerie circle, the one who'd convinced Ola it was a good idea to practice elemental control over fire during organic chemistry lab. (Ola had gotten expelled.) Jaesoo had just thought, somehow, stupidly, that maybe this latest stunt wasn't actually such a bad idea. Or at least ... that it wouldn't be so dangerous.

Rhanis nodded and put the mask back on her face as she listened to Jaesoo. Responsible perhaps but not at fault she would let the MCU deal with it satisfied they understood. A hapless creature caught in the malice of another opened more questions than it closed. Whatever they'd done as taken from the fruits of some fool merchant or another did not surprise her. An ill portent for her future if more of this spreads.
Before she turned to leave said of the situation toward Maria, "The price is yet named but we feel hers may unjustly be paid. Beware."
This time she remembered to step over the metal sills on her way to the place the chairs were in. A 'waiting room' of discomfort with its hard seats and metal chairs didn't surprise her. As out of view as she could sit grabbed a pile of paper magazines and sat on the floor. One cover open flips through pages no longer the page that was there. Inspecting her books from afar placed each in their own direction and place to remember their identity. Diagrams and fae text visible only to the wall to keep them from mundane eyes.

"It won't change what happened, you're right. But it may change what happens going forward, and may prevent something similar from happening again." Maria offered. "Why don't you tell me what happened at the party? It may help find your friends who went missing." Maybe they had gone somewhere on a dare after all.
Either way, she needed to know more information, which meant she needed Jaesoo to cooperate. That was going to be interesting. "I just want to find out what happened to the missing students, and how some of them ended up deceased. I just want to stop this from happening again."

"How should I know..." Jaesoo sighed dramatically, then rolled over so she was lying on her back, the hospital sheets bunching up tightly around her. "We just thought it might be fun to try something. Nothing serious." It wasn't like they were doing meth. Or at least, not technically, anyway. "I don't know where anyone went after the party. I've been in here ever since ... " Which was technically true. Both in the sense that she didn't actually know where they were, and in the sense that she'd basically been rushed from the house straight to the ER, unconscious, so didn't have any direct knowledge. But she knew now. Everyone was talking about it. And even as she was talking to the MCU detective, her phone was dinging with more replies in the group texts. Maybe her mom would be at least useful in getting MCU to leave her alone.

"What did you try?" It was like pulling teeth from a stone, but she could do it. It just took patience and kindness. The other was speaking to her at least and that was more than what she had before entering the room. "Anything you say could help us find your friends." She'd lean on that if she had to. The other seemed mostly apathetic though. She had been through a lot, which Maria could understand, but this was frustrating. Witnesses all too often were though.

"Does it even matter? The doctors said it's out of my system now. So. I'm fine." Fine, at least in that she wouldn't have any permanent damage. Fine, in that she wasn't in danger of dying. But they'd warned her against using anything even vaguely magical anytime soon. Not for at least a few more days. Not until they were sure her body could withstand it. But they were mundane. What were they supposed to know. What could they know. She stared straight up at the ceiling, until little black dots began to form in the corner of her vision from the all too bright lights overhead. Why they used those damn things, she had no idea. "I don't know where anyone went. And they're not my friends." Well. Temperance maybe. But even that ... the jury was still out on that one.

"It does matter, yes. Can you at least tell me if it was magical or mundane in nature?" Jaesoo wasn't going to cooperate at all was she? This was going to be entirely too much fun. Maria hated it when the witnesses didn't cooperate. It complicated matters entirely too much. And with Jaesoo their only lead, she wasn't sure where to go next. "Can you tell me the names of the other people with you, at least?" She needed something to work with, anything to follow at all.
There may be more witnesses who didn't get hit as hard. That was a possibility and she'd have to look into that as well. She needed to speak to others at the party as well, and knew that the other specialists were following up with everyone they could track down too.

Jaesoo looked over at Maria for the first time since the MCU detective had turned up in her room. "Why? Am I in trouble?" Her voice sounded small, but with a touch of defiance just short of outright hostility. She hadn't done anything, and people who hadn't done anything weren't supposed to get in trouble. Right? Her eyes narrowed. Something seemed off about them - she was sure it was lingering effects of that shit. It was supposed to have been fun. "...it was supposed to be magical," she mumbled, so low her voice was almost inaudible. "But it's not illegal." At least, Temperance had said it wasn't. But Temperance had definitely been known to fudge legalities before...

"You aren't in trouble, Ms. Kim." Maria assured her. "Do you know the name of what you took?" One thing at a time. At least the other was looking at her now. That was progress of some sort. "And can I do a mage sight scan of you?" She didn't want to do it without permission. They weren't supposed to do it without permission as it was. It was considered an invasion of privacy. "That way I may be able to see what sort of magic it was." It depended on how much the magic had broken down. But even a partial print would be useful for identifying whatever the other one took.
If it was magical in nature though, they needed to get whoever was making it off the streets quickly.

Jaesoo shrugged, one shoulder moving up and then down again, rumpling the sheets on the bed. "Go ahead, I guess..." It didn't feel like she had much of a choice. MCU, after all. Who would have guessed, she might have ended up in trouble with MCU. In college. "It's called Vivify. It's supposed to be ... fun." It was supposed to intensify and strengthen each of their innate magical abilities. Unleash their potential. Take them on magical trips the likes of which no mundane drugs would ever be able to do. But it wasn't supposed to be dangerous, either to them or the non-magical friends. "But like I said. It's not illegal."

Maria cast mage sight, a clawed V pulled back from her eyes and looked Jaesoo over. She pulled a piece of silk from her bag and murmured the spell to take the magical impression. Someone may be able to get a bit more than just what she knew from it after all, even if she couldn't. "You still have some lingering magic from the pill. I'll see about getting one of our doctors in to make sure it really is out of your system." One of theirs should have been called to begin with, but it didn't always happen.
"Who gave you the Vivify? I'd like to speak to them too. Though you are right, it isn't illegal." Dosing a mundane with magical pills though? That sure as hell was illegal, and it had been a mundane party where this occurred.

Slowly, the silk cloth turned magenta in hue before Jaesoo's very eyes. She tried to remember what that meant. But she supposed it didn't matter much. The point was, she was alive, and it was supposed to be out of her system. Though the color on that silk seemed to indicate otherwise, if it did what she remembered. Then of course, Maria confirmed her suspicions. Jaesoo sighed. She opened her pending texts on her phone. Over eighty-seven new ones now. Great. She turned off the screen again and looked back at the detective. "I don't want to say," she said. "Just a friend. Kind of." Vivify wasn't technically illegal, but she got the sense that this detective wasn't exactly here just to ask some innocent questions either. And as much as she was frustrated with Temperance at the moment, she didn't exactly want to see Temperance in deeper shit with the MCU either.

Fae magic? That was incredibly unusual. And it meant they'd need to contact an expect in the fae for this entire venture. This was going to be interesting. "Are you sure? Your friend isn't in any trouble either. Everyone who took Vivify that night was magical, as far as we can tell." If any mundanes took it, they certainly hadn't had this reaction at least and that was kind of the key thing. They still shouldn't have been performing any sort of magic at a college party, but the unseen wasn't exactly unseen any more was it? They were out in the open and the secret was blown sky high.
She would like to get an MCU doctor out here quickly though, and pulled out her phone to send a quick text requesting one.

As far as MCU could tell. Well, Jaesoo knew they were dead wrong about that. But she wasn't about to volunteer that information. The MCU would probably figure it out soon enough, but by then, she hoped she could use her mother as a barrier between her and any further investigations. Jaesoo feigned a long sigh. "I don't really want to say... You guys will probably figure it out anyway. And I don't want to be the one saying anything." Temperance would never forgive her. And Temperance was not exactly someone that anyone in their year at Oberlin wanted angry. "We didn't do anything wrong," she added, somewhat more insistently than was probably necessary.

"Alright. I believe you." Maria assured the other. She certainly seemed convinced she had done nothing wrong at least. That was something, though Maria wasn't certain how much of a thing it was. This did mean she'd have to actually go through endless photos on social media looking for any other unseen people that had been around Jaesoo or the deceased people at the time. Someone close enough or there over enough pictures, perhaps. That would be the closest thing to a clue they had. Luckily people documented everything they did now.
She checked her phone for a response and nodded. "There should be one of our doctors by soon. I know you said it was meant to be magical, but can you tell me any other details about Vivify?"
