Some spell disasters were more benign than other, Tyrus decided and wished desperately for a squeegee. Others had incredibly unusual effects. He wasn't sure what this one would be, but given his skin was currently bright neon pink, he was really hoping it was of the benign variety. The magic looked over the ritual room, where he and Catherine were supposed to be practicing magic, and winced. There was definitely a reason he tended to avoid using potions. They were handy, of course, but when they went bad, they tended to go explosively bad.
There was...something about the consistency of toothpaste but rainbow streaked covering the room. Catherine would be here any minute and he hadn't made any progress on cleaning it up, much less decontaminating the room of magic, which was usually a necessity for their lessons. It made dealing with any magical outbursts from Catherine much easier, at least. And right now, he could do with somethign easy.
Maybe he could convince Lieutenant Boyuan to come and help? Obviously for high pay though, given this definitely classed as a magical catastrophe of some sort. If not, maybe he could put magic nullifying runes on something. Maybe a giant squeegee?
Catherine would be here any minute and he had logn sense stopped greeting her when she stepped on the land. She knew where to go after all. And right now, he really wasn't sure he wanted her to come here. But it was a long way to travel for nothing.
Tyrus tugged on his braid, inadvertently getting a good deal of the goop on his hair and streaking his hair rainbow shades.

Xiaolian had long since stopped answering Tyrus's calls for any help, prefering to let the princeline handle his own messes. Her hands were more than full with whatever the Gaurdians had assigned her, however she would have more than likely taken great joy in the predicament that he was now in. She might have even snapped a few photos and sent them to Molly as a means of potentially brokering a truce, though that in of itself was a challenge given the gulf that often lay between the Guardians and Ratatoskr.
Nothing would save Tyrus from the embarassment that awaited him now, especially as he struggled to come up with a solution to cleaning up the mess.
Outside the door of the ritual room, Catherine stood with her head tilted slightly to the side. "...the hell?" She muttered looking at what seemed to be some sort of sticky goo leaking out from underneath. "Tyrus..?" Catherine asked venturing to open the door.

Tyrus gave her a small wave. "Lessons are going to be outside today. I need to pick up some nullification potion from the storage and rinse off first but just. Give me a minute." This was embarrassing and his cheeks colored with it. The pink just made the blush that much more obvious. "I had a minor potion accident." Minor he said, ignoring how utterly destroyed the room was. This was why he didn't use potions. They never seemed to react how they were suposed to around him.
At least the nullification potions worked. He's need to get a rather large amount from Monmack to deal with this. Tyrus waded his way to the door and pulled his phone from the basket, then texted the dwarf that he'd need enough to thoroughly clean his ritual room and himself along with a quick summary of the damage. Then he stepped out and sighed, heading for the hose. He held up a hand and wrinkled his nose. "I can't believe I'm pink. That potion should not have done that."
Maybe if he ignored the situation entirely she would be too shocked to laugh.

Catherine sucked in a breath and promptly turned on her heal, showing herself out of the room. The damn mage had turned himself into some sort of deranged cotton candy confectionery, that would have delighted any 8 year old girl; at least the ones who liked that sort of thing.
It appeared to her that he still wasn't thinking anything through past the 'oh this is interesting' stage of magic. He still had no respect for the consequences that often came with experiments such as his.
It was all Catherine could do to not burst out laughing at the sight of Tyrus Rahal covered in rainbow goo from head to toe.

"In case you were wondering, it was supposed to be a child's night light." He said simply and turned on the water hose, putting his phone well outside the reach of the damned this so he could hose off. It should be harmless, but he'd go over the area with the same mage nullification potion he planned on using on himself, once he was tidy. "I'm not quite sure what went wrong. Something must have been contaminated." Either way, he was now rather ridiculous looking. The mage sprayed down his legs first. It didn't change the pink nature of them, but at least they were completely foam free now. He did his arms next, then, reluctantly, sprayed his front off and his hair. Annoyed, he twisted then sighed.
"...Could you get my back. I want to be sure to get it all off and I don't think I can get the right angle." He was not living this down any time soon.
At least it was just weird colors. It could have been so much worse.

Catherine sighed and looked upwards to the large array of stars that wheeled above in the sky over the property. "I've long since stopped asking Tyrus." At least when it came to whatever insanity he had cooked up. A child's night light didn't make sense though to her, given the sticky goo and distinct pink twinge of his skin, she had her doubts.
"Tyrus.. I really don't think.." Catherine started to say as she shook her head and motioned no. She was most certainly not comfortable with the nature of his question. "I don't think a hose is going to solve this." She added. Hosing him down and helping him clean himself up after the incident was not the top of her list. Nor were whatever lessons he had planned, they had become boring, rote things that were more a waste of her time. It also tended to rapidly devolve into twenty questions about how to do this that or the other.

"I don't expect it to fix this." He said simply. "I expect it to get any excess potion off." He shrugged and ran the water over his back. It wasn't as good as getting properly hosed off, but it would do. The mage turned the water off and frowned. The water had diluted the potion enough there were no obvious signs of trouble, but he'd still want to use the nullifier potion later.
He squeezed out the worst of the water from his clothe and his hair and smiled to her. "We should probably discuss your lessons. I don't feel you're getting a lot out of them." Behind his back, his hair began to sprout daisies. Tyrus did not notice as ground where he has washed the potion off also began to sprout daisies in a litany of colors. It looked very much like the potion was still interacting with its environment.

Catherine watched in mild fascination as the daisies bloomed in the puddle of water left behind after Tyrus's impromptu shower.
"...give that it's keeping both of us out of trouble with the Council... and Grigore... I'd say I'm getting enough out of it."
This was the one thing that Grigore had actually agreed with the Council on, if only as a way to serve his own means.
"You're sprouting." Catherine added blithely. It was almost too bad she didn't have the energy or desire to bother with shaming the mage for his own mistakes.

"I'm spr-?" Tyrus looked himself over and then closed his eyes the minute he saw the daisies in his hair. Yeah, he was sprouting all right. That was interesting. He opened his eyes and prayed the flowers were gone. Nope, still there. Great. That was... great. This was why he didn't bother with potions. This sort of stuff happened. The mage pulled at one of the flowers and frowned. "...My hair is apparently transforming into flowers, strand by strand." That was not good. At least it didn't appear to be rapid.
"New lesson. Pulling magic out of something." He decided. "You get to work on the flowers on the ground, since apparently, the potion wasn't watered down enough." He stepped away from them and wrinkled his nose. "Though I suspect that's in reaction to the magical contamination I thought I had taken care of." Apparently not thoroughly enough. It looked like he'd need more help on that front.

"I'm not a null Tyrus, if you wanted a null you should have called Boyuan." Catherine stated bluntly.
"Besides which, this doesn't look like your normal brand of chaos anyway. What were you playing with this time?" She asked stooping down to pluck a daisy from the puddle he had directed her towards.
Potions weren't really something anyone in the unseen did much with in her experience, they were exceedingly finicky and prone to more harm than good. "I mean granted I do find it utterly hilarious that you look like a giant cotton candy colored oompa loompa." She commented twirling the flower between two fingers. Catherine would almost swear that he had made yet another foray into the fae magics, especially given his claims of it supposedly being a night light originally.

"This isn't that." He said simply. "It's a trick. You're basically using whatever you're pulling the magic from as a source of magic. It takes power and training to do so and a weaker magic user wouldn't be able to do it." He held up his hair and concentrated, making a pulling motion with his hand. The flower he was focusing on changed to snow and began to melt. "It's a form of using ambient magic to cast."
He shrugged, not sure how to put it. "And I suspect this is still left over from the attack. I've had a team out here twice already but there was a lot of magic that night."

That was a non-answer if she had ever heard one, but was to be expected given everything that had happened recently. "I see." Catherine replied, unsure of what to make of what seemed like a thinly veiled remark about Xiaolian's skill. The woman might not have been the power house that Molly or anyone else on the team, excluding the new hire Maria, but she was still quite able to hold her own. Sure the Unseen played games with power and control, unmercilessly categorizing the weak as subservient to the strong; it was an unspoken caste system that quite often did more harm than good.
Picking another flower, she followed Tyrus's vague instructions and pulled on the magic to scatter the remaining flowers and dissipate the magic. It didn't take long for the weak remaining traces of magic to bend to her will.
The multi colored petals and flowers were quickly scattered and borne aloft on a warm late spring breeze. Catherine's magic, despite her best efforts, would always have a distinctly fae nature to them. Though that wasn't to say that it was all gentle sun and pretty flowers, there were other much more terrifying and destructive methods she just personally preferred to not use.
"I find it hard to believe that that was supposed to be a nightlight or a child's comfort. Those don't come in potions and tinctures." She often knew more about magic than she preferred to let on, and most of it was thanks to her day job, never mind being raised with the fae; who were masters of some of the most ancient and powerful magics known to the unseen.

"It was meant to be one she'd have to power herself." He admitted. "The potion was supposed to be an gent that would light up when she put magic into it." It was supposed to be a relatively simple potion. He worked on getting the flowers out of his hair first, slower than Catherine at this. She was a good student. "Adjusted so a relatively weak child could use it. It's for a little sister of one of my students." And not for an actual student, though as he understood it, it was intended to be a birthday present. "I'm going to have to have a team come out here again." That was so expensive.
And he no longer had unlimited court funds to run the ranch. Grigore had cut him off on ranch upkeep and informed him he could handle it himself. That had been a fun conversation. Yes, he could afford to, of course, but he was much more used to just spending court money to keep their place of worship up to par. "I wish Boyuan was on one of the teams. She's a much better null than some of the ones I've been hiring."

Catherine raised a slender eyebrow at Tyrus's admission, there was a disconnect between what he had tried to do and what had happened. "Maybe you should avoid liquids next time." She suggested unhelpfully. Who knew what would have happened had the item exploded for the girl, that had the ability to traumatize child depending on the age and other factors. "And maybe you should ask the child what would help first?" Catherine added watching as Tyrus continued to try to remove the remaining offenders from his hair.
"You do realize you can ask Xiaolian if she's willing to take an off duty job... right?" Tyrus was frustratingly clueless to the real world, but she was almost certain he likely thought the same of her when it came to magic. It wasn't like she'd been raised to use it much, and her job generally required her to deal with some pretty heinous acts. Her reluctance was likely to be forgiven based on that alone.

"Ah." He blushed again. "She doesn't seem to like me, so I try and leave her alone. Besides, I don't want her to think she has no choice in the matter. I am trying to get better about-" He hesitated and then shrugged, uncomfortable. "Just, using people. She's basically part of the court. I don't want her to feel obligated to take the job just because I'm the one asking." Paid or not.
He had overstepped in the past without realizing it until much later. Their relationship, now that she was a part of the court, or at least, in the service of the court, had changed. Had she not been in service to the court, he would have considered it.
