"There really isn't." Not that he knew of. "But there are some basics we can work on." There were basics for everything. "We can work on opening and closing a flower bud, for example. You have that much control already." She had good control when calm. He wasn't worried about that at all. He wondered if he could lean on any of the fae here for help with the cultural aspect. She was as close to a fae as he was to a vampire and they both knew it.
A vampire trying to teach a fae. And both weren't what they had been raised as. This was going to be fun.

Fun was possibly an understatement, as neither had a firm idea of how this was supposed to work. It was like a child teaching an elder, and while a noble cause often lead to disagreements as the child was seen as still nothing more than a child. "That sounds deceptively easy Tyrus..." Catherine remarked suddenly suspicious of what sort of things he had planned. While she wasn't happy about having to use magic for everything, she would have to just play the game until they were done.
Thinking for a moment, she wondered if there was some way to make a more equal trade between them. "Also it would only be fair that I compensate you for your time.. Council mandate or not. What could I teach you in return?" She asked. That would largely eliminate any sort of contractual agreement and potentially make it more fair. If anything, the fae were always concerned with fairness, particularly the Seelie. The Unseelie would take whatever they wanted and however they wanted, there was no concern for the other party at all.

"Two teachers sharing sounds a lot better." He admitted. "And...fae culture? I'd love to learn more, especially given I'm here. Maybe some of the simpler fae spells, if you think I can do them." This was a better deal than anything with the council by far. Still he considered her note of it sounding easy and shrugged it off.
"And theoretically, it will be easy. My understanding is that its mostly to get you use to the structure of a plant, and how to manipulate it magically." He could actually explain why the exercises were what they were with her. That was something he'd have to remember to do. He didn't feel equipped for teaching her, not really, but it is what it is and he would do so. And he'd do so successfully if he had his way.

"Consider it done then." She readily agreed, that resolved at least one concern she had. Catherine knew she could at easily teach him something about the culture and language, after all she'd been immersed it in one way or another since she was a child. "The spells and charms... you should be able to complete some of the simpler ones. I only know a handful, and many of them I use offensively in difficult situations." Some of the simpler magics tended to be the most difficult for others to counter, as they acted on a focus word in fae instead of languages like English or Latin. But she didn't know if Tyrus could even accomplish them, as it often required direct manipulation of the veil and that seemed to be something he wasn't aware was possible.
"The culture... well the farm should show you the seasonal shifts and ties to the realm. Nobility is complicated Tyrus, I somehow think that isn't what your asking about."

"I'd take how not to instantly offend the entire room for the nobility. I suspect I can skirt by on being human for the majority of it. But otherwise, I think the every day life on the farm will likely show me plenty." Farm. He was spending the next year on a farm. That was going to be the opposite of fun. At least his student was now willing. And she was his teacher part of the time. That was going to be fun too.
"It would be good to expand my repertoire of offensive magic. It could also be a lot of fun." Expanding his deadliness in battle was always fun as far as he was concerned, even though he essentially never got to cut loose. The one time he could have had been a surprise attack. That was annoying as hell. Maybe perimeter wards? His property was huge, but if he just put it on the more living quarters area that should be enough.

This was about the roses still, and Catherine was hardly sorry about it. A bit regretful, but hardly sorry. "The nobility bore easily, if you can entertain them they will forgive most things. Some of the fae are easily entertained unfortunately, and you just happened to be the mark for the evening. My apologies if that was not what you had intended." She was trying to be more direct and human with Tyrus, but it was difficult for her outside of the confines of work. Her habit of compartmentalizing portions of her life was beginning to cause difficulty. She didn't want to share much about her life outside of work with many people, considering that she had an exceptionally good habit of making enemies. The biggest one at the moment seemed to be the Dragon Court and her sire, as loathe as she was to admit it; even if it was only to herself.
"We are approaching midsummer... no doubt there will be a party or two for you to practice these cultural things at. As for offensive magics... I guess I can teach that." At least he wouldn't be overtly prone to injury or panic when faced with some of the more fearsome spells.

"Well, if nothing else, I can be entertaining. Just get me drunk." That worked like a charm every time. He grinned. "Or have me let loose on the magic a little. Drop my control some and suddenly my magic is very entertaining. I probably rather deserved most of last night though. No hard feelings." He definitely deserved a good portion of last night. He was aware of it too, not that it made too much of a difference. The mage stretched and smiled.
"If you want to get breakfast, I can show you a neat spell to make it dance across your plate. That should entertain any watchers at least." It worked on him as a kid, and worked well on his students. It would also be magic practice for Catherine, so it would serve double duty.

"Somehow I doubt there will be anything more of the cordial you were given last night." Instead there would likely beer, wine, and mead. Cider would wait until the first frost before it was made. "Tyrus... let me remind you how I am not six." Catherine clarified. He seemed to be utterly stuck in the mindset of teaching children, and while that was something he was good at, he continued to try to apply it to her.
"But, breakfast would be ideal. It will likely help your head." She knew he likely had a hangover from the previous night. It had been some time since they had had a human guest, much less one that could do magic like Tyrus. Though, fae hospitality tended to get the better of most, and he was no exception to falling victim to the strong wines and sweet liquors.

"I still find it amusing." He defended and gave her a grin. "I hope you'll forgive me. I've been teaching kids long enough that I default to this." He'd get used to teaching an adult fairly quickly, he hoped. "And I would love something to help my head. The cordial was stronger than I expected." At least he had managed to undo what he had done. Though he didn't promise either bush was actually going to survive for too much longer.
He had tried at least. The mage smiled. "I suspect we'll both need patience with each other." He admitted. They had very different learning styles, he was willing to bet and incredibly different teaching styles.
