"You didn't know. I don't talk about my love often." She shrugged and fiddled with the ring, an absent smile on her face. "We were together for nearly a decade. She was Unseen too, and we didn't have secrets. My mentor adored her. I moved in with him for awhile, after her death. I wasn't exactly in a good state." She hesitated a moment. She might as well tell the truth, the full truth. She tried not to lie, even if she was good at misleading. "I know I sleep around but finding another person like her would be difficult." Molly rarely looked for more than a one night stand. She was entirely too busy with work.
"I guess it's my turn. Do you still keep in contact with your folks?"

Xiaolian shook her head. "They didn't adjust well and found someone to take them home, hoping the war would be over. Things were good for them for awhile... but like a lot of things it didn't last forever." She explained slowly. "The last I knew things were getting bad again and that they were planning to return. But it didn't work that way unfortunately."
The Ba-Shu, with their small pool of gifted families was frequently targeted for exploitation. Xiaolian's parents hadn't managed to make it out the second time, and instead made the difficult decision to stay behind; despite their daughter's insistence. "After that no word reached the communities here. There's maybe a handful of us, if that."

"I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I could help." If the other said the plane was closed, she'd believe her. There were closed planes after all, ones in ailing parts of the world tree. She wouldn't even try to go to those branches. It wasn't safe. "My parents kicked me out when they found out about my leanings. There was a lot of cursing involved. Figurative, not literal. I was raised a hunter though, from a pretty minor family." They were sharing. Either could call this off at any time.
This would just make their partnership stronger, it had to. Molly hoped. "What's your question for me?" Hopefully they wouldn't hit any sore subjects. They didn't seem to be having much luck on that count though.

Xiaolian just shrugged, it was a fact she'd been forced to come to terms with. Hard things and even harder truths had been the majority of her life, and to be asked to sort through them again in excruciating detail wasn't her idea of a good time. The only way she had managed to survive was to chalk it up to heaven's will and move on, hoping that she didn't incite it's anger yet again. "There's nothing you can do now, but thank you for your offer." She replied blandly.
"I'm not full of questions like you are Molly." She added shaking her head. Another round of questions would only bring up things that Xiaolian wasn't exactly interested in talking about. It was bad enough that Molly had prodded and goaded, gentle thought it had been, into talking about her early career.

"My mentor says I never shut up." Molly admitted and managed a smile. "I owe you a question. Let me know when you want me to pay up." Speaking of her mentor....maybe she could talk him into going at the creatures near the station with her. She needed some sort of stress relief. It had been a tense conversation, even if she was putting a lot of her emotions on the back burner. They could stay there until she had some time to process them appropriately and with a lot of violence. A lot of it.
She stretched and then grinned at her partner. "Hey, give me some of the case work you've been doing the paper work on? I said I'd do better, and that means helping with the paperwork too." And she'd do it without complaint. Or with minimal complaint at least. Paperwork was her bane.
