"Nearly? What am I missing here that you aren't telling me?" June asked narrowing her eyes at Tyrus. "All reports we've seen have been exemplary, but now you're saying that control is still an issue."
He very clearly had no idea what he was getting into, and that worried her. Tyrus was perhaps one of the most educated about magic in the community, and took his role extremely seriously when it came to teaching children. There was a reason that June almost always recommended his classes to juvenile cases; it would place children with like individuals, give them some training wheels, and make them some friends along the way who were going through the same thing.
"Tyrus.. you need to be careful. Her paternal line traces directly to the Ambrogio family."

"She releases the magic. It's very annoying." He shrugged. "But it dissipates harmlessly every time. It's not a matter of control. It's a matter of self confidence. If I was worried, I'd be able to redirect it regardless, given what my parents did to me." The Council know about the Ritual that had been done to him, that had connected him to the veil. He had destroyed the only copy of it in front of their eyes, with joy. "And that would explain a lot."
directly to the Ambrogio family. If she was close enough to claim that connection then she wasn't more than one or two generations away. He considered what he knew and sighed. This was just confirmation she was a dhampir. That was going to be fun. "I will be careful. Thank you fo the information." It meant his training plans would need to be altered slightly. But that didn't matter, he could still do it.

"Good." June nodded. "Oh and one more thing, I'm going to guess you've already talked to Summers, Klein, and likely Edevane. I'll sign off on this as the Councilor of record if you stick to the conditions we've already agreed upon earlier."
That meant that she would be the one tracking progress and sharing the reports with the others. It would be one more thing to do, and she was not looking forward to dealing with it either. But, she did have to agree that given the condition Tyrus reported finding his student in, that there wasn't much time to sit and dither about it. "I'll see if I can bribe Klein to get a sub into Dallas for the next 12 weeks... that is if you think you'll need it."

"If you can do it, that would work well. If not, I can still manage this." It would be more difficult but he could still do this. It would jsut take longer to break through to Catherine. And I'll stick to the conditions." He had a chance of saving her. Now he had to convince her to go along with it. That was probably going to be the most difficult step of the entire process.
Catherine was understandably reluctant to use magic and had been as long as he had known her. That was going to have to change if she wanted to live, and he hoped she wanted to live. If not, he had much bigger problems on his hands.
